Rice Tagen

Rice Tagen is a lovely dish you can enjoy with any other dish. It's best eaten with vegetables, meats and poultry. You can also add 1/2 boiled chunks of meat or chicken inside the tagen before cooking. This adds to the lovely taste.

Ingredients
:

  • 1/2 Kg [ 3 1/2 cups] Rice
  • 1 Liter [4 cups] Milk
  • 30g [2 tbsp] Butter
  • 100g [1/2 cup] Cream
  • Salt
  • Pepper
Directions:
  1. Wash rice and soak in water for 15 minutes.
  2. Boil the milk, add salt and pepper while boiling.
  3. Drain the rice from water, put it in a medium clay Tagen (or any oven tray).
  4. Add milk and stir.
  5. Cover the tray/tagen with foil tightly.Cook in the oven on medium heat.
  6. When rice is cooked, remove the cover and add the cream on top of the rice.
  7. Put the tagen/oven tray back in the oven (without a cover this time) for a few minutes, till the surface turn into a beautiful golden color.
  8. Serve and Enjoy!

Looks like a good recipe. It would be helpful for us Americans if you could give us different unit. We measure things like butter and flour in teaspoons, Tablespoons, etc. I have the conversions somewhere from living in Europe, but a lot of others don't. If you gave both units, more people would be interested. I wish we could get it changed, but for now we are still in our own odd system.
